The Algoma Harvester was constructed by Nantong Mingde Heavy Industry as a gearless bulk carrier as part of Algoma Central Corporation’s fleet renewal program. The Algoma Harvester is the second vessel constructed of the Equinox class. The Equinox class ships are significantly more efficient than their fleetmates, and are equipped with exhaust scrubber systems that remove 97% of sulfur oxide emissions.

Her Story
The Algoma Harvester was the second vessel of a planned eight ships built for Algoma Central Corporation’s Equinox class fleet renewal program. The Harvester was launched on December 25, 2013 and completed in early 2014. She was then sailed to North America, being christened on July 14, 2014 at Hamilton, Ontario.
The Algoma Harvester suffered from engine problems and hull cracking during the 2018 season.
The Algoma Harvester is an active carrier in the ore and grain trades.
